Behind the Lens

Hello, and welcome to my blog. My name is Sarah Diller Cummins and I love capturing those special moments!I started studying photography in 2006 and have been learning and growing every day. I have a bachelor's degree in studio art (Photography, painting, drawing, and ceramics) with a minor in art history. I I am grateful for my parents who raised to do what I love and even though I have heard that art and freelance are not guaranteed jobs, I do it anyway because I know this is what I was born to do! To get started with this blog, I would like to present you with some photos I have created showing some of the people I love most. My family.

First, this is my husband. For the past 4 years he has been so supportive. Even when I quit my waitressing job last year to pursue my photography business full time. He is so special to me and I am one lucky girl to have him in my life. If you hire me for your wedding, you will see him there as my awesome assistant/second shooter. He is amazing and I love him more everyday.

This is my beautiful little sister. Before the moved literally across the country to Portland, Oregon, I had this photo shoot with her. She has been home once since she moved. For my wedding in March of this year, she was not only my maid of honor but stayed awake for 2 days straight baking both the cakes and making individual pies for the place settings (I was married on Pi day, it was cute) She was brave to move so far away from our family. Whereas I did the same thing but only went 4 hours away, she drove for an entire week to get to her new home where she is doing pretty good. But I sure do miss her.

I also have two older sisters, who just happen to have some of the most beautiful children in the world! These kids know that when aunt Sarah is around, she will be taking pictures. I have learned a lot from photographing these adorable kids. When I have an idea for something new I would like to try, I practice on them. Photography is art. I am an artist. I look forward to continuing this blog and letting you take a glance at how things work behind the scenes of Sarah Diller's Photographs and what inspires me.
