Michelle & David | Wedding

I was contacted by Red Gate to do a wedding on November 20th. I had no details of the wedding or who was getting married. All I knew was that I was needed at 10am on November 20th. A contract was signed, the bill was paid, still no contact with the bride. I was beginning to wonder what I had gotten myself into, but I trusted the manager that everything would be just fine. Well, a week before the wedding, I get an email from Michelle, notifying me that I was going to be photographing her wedding on Sunday. I was so happy to finally have a name. A phone call was scheduled and she sweetest voice came over the receiver. She explained the details of her small intimate wedding and I knew it was going to be a great day.

A week later, there I was at Red Gate. The sky was bright blue and no cloud could be seen. It was a little chilly, but that is to be expected in mid-November. I had only spoke on the phone to Michelle and still had no idea what she looked like. I walked into the bride room and this adorable, tiny, woman wearing a pink shirt that said “Wifey” greeted me. From there, everything went so smoothly. I captured her as she stood alone in her dressing room, putting on her make-up, and got some shots of the little details. She was later joined by her mom and sister to help her get into her dress.

The morning light coming through the windows of the bride room was simply stunning and created the most perfect setting for these photos. I was so happy and snuck around the room as she got into her simple, yet elegant dress. Before the ceremony, I stepped into the groom’s room so I could meet him as well. I walked into a room of the opposite of the quiet room of the bride. This room was filled with his family and friends and they were all talking and laughing. After shaking his hand, I was immediately drawn to the 3 ladies wearing traditional Korean gowns. I was definitely not expecting that, and I have never seen anything like it. The dresses added to the incredible details of the whole day! This simple, elegant wedding was stunning from start to finish. The weather was perfect, the bride was beautiful, the groom handsome. I kept having to pinch myself to make sure it was real. It almost felt like a styled wedding it was so beautiful. I am glad it was not a styled wedding, however, and I am so incredibly happy that I got to be a part of this amazing day. I think I will book more surprise weddings from now on!! Please enjoy these photos from this stunning day!
